HDI’s Announces New Humanitarian Project: Assistance to the Kalash People of Pakistan

HDI is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with our longtime partner, the Foundation for Arts Culture and Education (FACE) on a humanitarian program to help the Kalash people of Pakistan.  HDI and FACE have already worked together on several United States Government endeavors and are pleased to once again join forces to bring humanitarian support to the Kalash people.

The Kalash tribe of Pakistan is a non-Muslim tribe of Pakistan struggling to maintain its culture.  The people claim to be descendants of Alexander the Great whose army passed through the Indus Valley on its way home to Greece. The Kalash believe their ancestors were soldiers who married local woman and stayed in what is now the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan.

The Kalash people are in desperate need of emergency assistance.  The Chitral Valley in which they live has recently been ravaged by floods.  Healthcare and education for girls were among the areas which have suffered the most severely.
