Armenia, Lebanon, and Eritrea

In 2000, HDI launched the first deployment of the "K-9 Demining Corps" to Lebanon and Eritrea in partnership with the Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI) and the U.S. State Department. HDI and its partners sponsored three teams of six mine detection dogs in Armenia, Lebanon, and Eritrea, raising more than US $525,000 for the purchase, training, and transport of the dogs to mine-infested areas.  With more than 180,000 square meters of land cleared, these programs made an immediate impact in improving human security and economic development in these countries.
