Kjorven

January 18, 2008

On January 18, the Humpty Dumpty Institute held a U.N. to D.C. program with Olav Kjorven, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of Bureau for Development Policy at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The program was supported by the United Nations Foundation.

ASG Kjorven, a former State Secretary of International Development in Oslo, Norway, discussed the recent United Nations Bali Conference on climate change as well as the work UNDP is doing on development and climate change. Mr. Kjorven specifically addressed UNDP’s important work on linking climate change to its mission of reducing poverty. The briefings were attended by approximately 50 Senate and House staffers who engaged Mr. Kjorven on how the United States, the international community, and the United Nations need to coordinate on the issue of climate change — addressing its causes and consequences.
