Commemorating Women’s History Month: HDI Sends Cultural Envoy Maya Azucena to Qatar

HDI is proud to have kicked off the commemoration of Women’s History Month with a program in Doha, Qatar. In collaboration with U.S. Embassy Doha HDI’s Cultural Envoy Maya Azucena accompanied by her band, performed, lectured, and conducted workshops in Doha, Qatar March 2-5. Maya gave an extremely well-received performance at the iconic Souq Waqif . The main event of this program was a workshop hosted by the Doha Women Forum entitled “Unleash Your Power Through Music.” The workshop featured songs and storytelling, demonstrating the power of music in transforming lives. U.S Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker said, “We are excited to welcome Maya Azucena to the Middle East for the first time and collaborate with local grassroots movements to highlight women in music and self-empowerment. This workshop with the Doha Women Forum allows for all to find common ground through music, storytelling, and self-expression.”
