HDI Teams With the Indonesian American Chamber of Commerce – U.S. Congressional Staff Delegation to Indonesia

HDI worked with the American Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (AICC) to bring a Congressional Staff Delegation to Indonesia to highlight U.S. business interests in Asia as well as environmental issues.  Arriving first in Jakarta on December 17 they met with representatives of AMCHAM Indonesia as well as the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The group traveled on December 19 to Sumatra in western Indonesia where they visited Chevron’s Duri field, one of the oldest U.S. operations  in Indonesia, as well the integrated pulp and paper mill, Indah Kiat, a major supplier of paper products to the United States.

 

Returning to Jakarta on Tuesday December 20th, the group met with U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel, Mr. Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, Director of the Indonesian Presidential Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP4), Mr. Agus Purnomo the Assistant to Indonesian President Yudhoyono for Climate Change, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Forestry, Mr. Hadi Daryanto as well representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, the Indonesian Ministry of the Environment, and NGO’s that monitor the environment, labor, and security issues.
