Dr. Murthy’s Lecture, titled “Global Health Issues,” was well received by students and faculty alike. President of Albany State University, Everette Freeman highlighted the importance of how students can get involved to fix these pressing issues on a local and global level. Dr. Murthy relayed to students the effectiveness of grassroots organizing, campus fundraising, advocacy, and awareness through talking to friends and through social media. Students were then given the opportunity to ask questions of Dr. Murthy. Over 300 students attended the lecture and the feedback from students and Albany State University has been extremely positive. . A third lecture at Albany State University on the subject of health related Millennium Development Goals is scheduled for November 18, 2010.
The Humpty Dumpty Institute’s Higher Education Alliance includes a growing number of universities and colleges across the United States that are seeking a more global perspective for their students by forging a unique, comprehensive and ongoing dialogue with the United Nations and other international institutions. The Humpty Dumpty Institute created this Alliance to enable students to interact with the international community.
