The Humpty Dumpty Institute Hosts 24th CODEL to the United Nations

The Humpty Dumpty Institute, with the support of the United Nations Foundation, welcomed its 24th Congressional Staff Delegation to the United Nations on February 11, 2008. Members of the Delegation had the opportunity to discuss a wide-range of issues crucial to the United Nations including the U.N.’s role in Iraq and the on-going U.N. Reform process.

The participants included Elisa Perry, Staff Associate and Phyllis Anderson, Senior Analyst (Representative William Delahunt, D-MA), Nina Besser, Senior Legislative Assistant and Samia Elshafie, CAIR Fellow, (Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, D-TX), Ashley Orr, Legislative Assistant, (Representative Brad Miller, D-NC), Jessica Lawrence Payne, Legislative Assistant, (Representative Albio Sires, D-NJ), and John Monsif, Legislative Assistant, (Representative Chris Shays, R-CT).

The Delegation was welcomed at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations where they met with Ambassador Zalmay Kalilzad, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, and Minister-Counselor Jeffery DeLaurentis. At the United Nations, the group received briefings by Deborah Owens, Department of Peacekeeping Operations, by the Iraq Team Leader of the U.N. Department of Political Affairs Darko Mocibob, and by Robert Appleton, Chief of the U.N. Procurement Task Force. The staffers ended their day with a working lunch at the U.N. Millennium Hotel with Paul Buades Chief of the U.N. Procurement Division, and members of his staff.
